Jelutong
Jelutong (Dyera Costulata) is grown in the Asia-Pacific region. Trees usually grow to be 30-60 m tall with a 1.5-1.8 m trunk diameter. Jelutong is known for its even grain and consistent colour. It is soft and easy to carve due to its low density and is easily worked by both machine and hand tools. Because of these characteristic traits, Jelutong is a perfect choice for wood carvers, especially beginners.
